ABSTRACT

Lamb, Works (1818); British Critic, 2nd Series, XI (Feb. 1819), 139–147. The “gentlemen” who took the trouble of collecting Lamb’s works – with Lamb’s cooperation, of course – were Leigh Hunt and Charles Oilier, the publisher. “N[ehemiah] Higginbottom” (p. 143) was a pseudonym under which Coleridge published three parody sonnets (and reprinted them, with an explanation in the first chapter of Biographia Literaria).
