Wordsworth’s reputation, as has often been noted, reached its nadir in the reviews of his Poems; in Two Volumes, and this review is one of the most stringent. The quotation that closes the second paragraph comes, as do many of the tags in the reviews of this period, from Pope (Satires, V, 281).
