ABSTRACT
If one is brought up to be concerned primarily with knowledge and is yet repulsed by the isolation and fragmentation of the specialties, it is natural to look for a general science or a comprehensive philo sophy. It is of course not guaranteed that such searchings will be productive, even less that they will yield a satisfactory life.
