ABSTRACT

The introduction presents the argument for the book by outlining the concept and role of news values in shaping foreign conflict reporting. It provides the background to the three broadcasters and explains the significance of them being public sector (state-aligned) broadcasters rather than private. It contextualises the broadcasters’ relations with the Middle East region and justifies and explains why the combination of these three broadcasters and this case study is logical in supporting the argument. The introduction also presents the structure of the book.
