ABSTRACT

Nonverbal ingredients that are key to interview success include an appropriate handshake, strong eye contact, winks, apat on the back, gestures, and good vocal skills. One’s nonverbal performance in the interview is likely to impact one’s ability to communicate, self-confidence, and overall sociability. Successful interviewees typically maintain steady eye contact; use varied voice modulations to express appropriate affect; demonstrate an appropriately high energy level by hand gestures, smiling, and general body movement; and respond to interviewer questions with fluidity and little hesitation.
