ABSTRACT

We tend to judgeabook by its cover. Physical attraction and appearance has impacts on how we view others and ourselves. This impacts our relationships with friends, co-workers, and loved ones. The vanity of society is explored including cosmetics, facial transplants, diet fads, and plastic surgery. Various stereotypes of body appearance and conformity are addressed in the chapter. The three body types include mesomorphic, endomorphic, and ectomorphic. The degree to which one choosesapartner of similar attractiveness is referred to as the matching hypothesis.
