ABSTRACT
THE GAME OF BLACKJACK In order to appreciate the following discussion it is necessary to understand some fundamental rules of blackjack. The rules given here are for the game as played in the casinos where the observations were collected. Other casinos may use slightly different rules and procedures. For more detailed descriptions see Epstein (1967), Griffin ( 1979), Humble and Cooper (1980), Revere (1980), Thorp (1966), and Wong (1975).
