Relational Family Therapy and Clinical Practice

This chapter will focus on the basic integrating systemic concepts of relational family therapy and present an innovative therapeutic view of the individual. On the basis of the mechanisms of projective and introjective identifi cation, repetition compulsion, core affect, affective psychic constructs and affect regulation, we will detail the principles of intrapsychic, interpersonal and systemic dynamics and processes. We will clarify how and why the relational ties bind together the psycho-organic family system, what establishes and maintains them, as well as how they are then continuously repeated and reinforced.
