ABSTRACT

The development and implementation of any aesthetic principle should take account of feasibility, manufacturing, craftsmanship, and execution. And to have an understanding of this is to be mindful of the input and contribution of the broader development team. This chapter explores the importance of communication. It provides a brief overview of the typical ones that designer might encounter, and how to organize them effectively. The three most common types are: critiques and internal creative discussions; the second most common is really about presenting to the semi-initiated; the third type has to do with pitching to potential clients, customers, and users. A type of common presentation involves reviewing and sharing ideas with clients, management and key stakeholders. When presenting to clients, management, and key stakeholders, designers are ultimately looking to move the proposal forward in a productive manner. As designers, one should seek to use aesthetic principles to alter hearts and minds, impacting lives in a positive way.
