ABSTRACT

Jane Goodall has had major global effects on numerous people, animals, and habitats through her original research and her tireless efforts to make the world a better place for all beings. Goodall views environments as dynamic and constantly adapting entities. Goodall's inclusive environmentalism significantly changed "business as usual" in which the interests of humans routinely and unquestionably trumped those of other animals. Goodall also is deeply dedicated to working for and with humans, and her community-based conservation and development effort called the Tanganyika Catchment Reforestation and Education (TACARE) project launched in 1994 is an excellent example of this global work. Goodall remains positive and hopeful while facing situations that would make others shudder and from which they would turn away. Goodall is an iconic environmentalist who looks at other animals, people, and the environment from many different perspectives.
