ABSTRACT
Latin American popular music has become much more visible to mainstream popular culture in recent years, achieving an international reputation that has earned many artists critical acclaim, not to mention financial rewards. But the popularity of Latin rhythms is not new-Latin music has enjoyed global success for more than a hundred years. Its relative popularity may waiver, but its core audience persists no matter what the latest musical trend.
