ABSTRACT

Censorship, on the one hand, one of the ugly words of the English language, speaks of the repression that democratic beliefs officially condemn. It warns of the consequences of state tyranny, church tyranny, union tyranny, corporation tyranny-the strong hand of any institution silencing the dissenting voice. Liberty, on the other hand, provokes cherished feelings that resonate with our deepest human longings-an elusive goal perhaps, but worth the sacrifice required for each step in its advance.
