ABSTRACT

Effective teaching depends substantially upon the establishment of a relationship and a rapport between teacher and pupil. Being aware of a young person's educational need or of their particular impairment is important if you hope to teach them effectively. However, of even more importance are the individual pupil – their likes and dislikes, their interests and hopes, their wishes and their fears. This chapter provides case studies of individual children. Each case focuses on a particular type of educational need and offers some advice on how best to teach that child.
