ABSTRACT

The Renaissance period witnessed revolutionary trends in art and architecture with a new emphasis on human life and on the natural world. Renaissance music was broadened to include folk music, art songs, love songs, madrigals, court music, and street music. Renaissance literature evolved from tales about God and the afterlife to the interplay of human beings and their lives. One of the most destructive calamities in human history ushered in the Renaissance. P. Delaunay offered the opinion that the birth of Renaissance humanism echoed the return of Hellenic values. The role of the Reformation in Renaissance science remains subject to interpretation and debate. The Renaissance witnessed the development of new mathematical symbols and the solution of numerous equations. One of the most enigmatic figures of the Renaissance was the physician–alchemist–astrologer–scientist Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, who mercifully went by the nickname Paracelsus.
