ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the particular experiences Jean, Sean, and Vera lived during the alongside the youth and families with whom they connected through the art club. Children and youth compose their lives in many differing places in classrooms, schools, places in between school and home, home and community places, and so on. However, first turn toward experiences that Jean and Vera lived during a narrative inquiry alongside others at Ravine School, a site of inquiry of a larger Social Sciences and Humanities Council of Canada (SSHRC). Thinking about ongoing wakefulness to the multiplicity of stories to live by as we engage in narrative inquiries with children, youth, and families draws us back to memories of Ravine School. Attending carefully to who we are as we engage in the relational work of narrative inquiry is an ongoing and always negotiated process across the multiplicity of places in which we engage with children and youth.
