ABSTRACT

This chapter will focus on how to use marketing and networking to build a thriving group program in educational environments. You will hear about the state of college counseling centers, the goal of marketing, the effectiveness of group counseling, how to create a positive group culture, systemic barriers and resistances from both staff and clients, information about diversity and cultural issues relevant to marketing efforts, how to “sell” group to clients, marketing and networking strategies and techniques, and different types of advertising. Guidelines to use when creating flyers will also be discussed.
