ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 describes the roles of research, process, perception, and outcome data, and evaluation in creating accountable and outcome-driven school counseling services and programs. Essential data skills for school counselors are outlined and an exhaustive list of data resources is provided. The issue of drop-out and drop-out prevention is discussed. Methods of program evaluation, including proximal and distal evaluation, most often used in the school setting, are described along with results reports for documenting and sharing outcomes with stakeholders.
