ABSTRACT

This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters. The part explores the nature of organizational videoconference meetings, through sharing experience and suggesting theories to analyze the processes involved. It offers guiding rules for effective videoconference meeting. The part demonstrates that the various angles can deepen the readers’ understanding of the phenomena and enable a better application of the guiding rules. It utilizes the systems psychodynamic approach to explain phenomena in the various groups. The part argues that technology amplifies the heuristics which is embedded in the human way of thinking. It suggests the Gestalt approach as a framework to effectively communicate. The part deals with the challenges of working with groups from different spaces, cultures and time zones, from a consulting perspective. The consultant working with the approach attempts to inquire beyond the obvious to reach the underlying dynamics in groups and organizations.
