ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an intimate and charming exploration of the life of Edith Kramer, who was a close friend of the Bergman family. We read about Christmas traditions brought from Vienna, and New England summer vacations spent painting out of doors. We are treated to storytelling, remembered conversations around the dinner table, gifts of marzipan fairy-tale figures, as well as thoughtful considerations about the role of art and art as therapy in Edith’s life. This chapter has a “behind the scenes” feel to it, revealing a strong, intimate, and long friendship full of admiration and love.
