ABSTRACT

“Be careful with the strawberries because they’re worth more than you.” 1 This statement was shared by a woman worker explaining the type of verbal violence many women workers are facing in the strawberry sector. She said it with a smile. Amused. As if mocking the insults of the supervisors gave her the strength to face these indignant situations. How do you go from accepting this verbal and physical violence every day, not receiving the salary and getting the working conditions you should according to the labor code, to being a “women promoter”, an “activist,” engaging with other women and other influencing actors, to claim your rights, but more so, to claim your dignity as workers, as women?
