ABSTRACT

In many countries, women have been successful in securing senior positions in such fields as physiology, biology and social sciences (Wadhwa, 2006). Moreover, many women have become successful entrepreneurs, and the number of female business owners is rapidly increasing (Woldie and Adersua, 2004). Indeed, according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), 70 per cent of selfemployed women in Western Europe operate businesses that employ five or more people (UNECE, 2004).
