ABSTRACT

Nowadays we face dynamic and diffuse changes that cannot be stopped and that profoundly alter all spheres of social life: economic, social, ecological, political and many others, and they influence almost every individual. If we want to fit into these new trends we must change our approach, i.e. we must apply a wide range of new ideas and solutions to deal with new, uncertain conditions effectively and rationally. In such conditions, it is easier for women, who tend to have the natural instinct of selfpreservation, to find more adequate answers to the problems that the world is facing today. The characteristics typical for women, such as, on the one hand, enthusiasm, determination and openness to innovation and, on the other, rationality, devotion and responsibility, make women suitable for the role of leaders in a crisis. However, their abilities are underutilized, although it is obvious that countries that have noticed the potential of women’s capital as a growing resource of social fortune, have a competitive advantage compared to those countries that have failed to exploit this potential. Generally, the position of women worldwide has been improving rapidly in the last few decades. They are more educated and can be found in many social, political and economic positions, but advances in the occupation of top management positions are the slowest as far as the number of women is concerned. There are different opinions about this, and in this chapter we try to solve this problem and to help women, who now have a better education, are more active and evidently very successful in many roles which used to be reserved only for men, get the chance to prove themselves even in the most responsible functions.
