ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book shows aviation's place in the hazard that humanity creates and aviation's part in extending the hand. If the air industry perceives a need to adopt and demonstrate sustainability as a key criterion of its business practice, it is simply not useful to allow a vacuum in governance to dictate action and outcome-or lack there-of. The International Energy Agency (IEA) makes available a data summary of its global analysis of energy issues. Some relatively wealthy airlines in some relatively wealthy or rapidly developing countries can take some steps on their own to stimulate alternative sources of fuel for themselves. There is very little scope at the international level for actions or policies that help with the actual development and deployment of sustainable alternative fuels in a targeted and specific manner.
