Vanessa explained that the bullying and mobbing she had endured made her feel like she was worthless. In order for bullying to occur and endure, there are a number of preconditions or antecedents that must exist. From the organizational level, we see organizations that either allow for workplace bullying or even go further and support or promote workplace bullying. Workplace bullying is a new method in a long line of methods to maintain control. Employers resist giving up this control, both within their organizations by refusing to implement policies that would eliminate workplace bullying and outside by opposing legislation. General poor management and negative workplace cultures of various sorts have been found to lead to workplace bullying. Possession of a power source alone is not the only necessary precondition to workplace bullying. When interviewing targets of workplace bullying, control by the bully was both a common cause of workplace bullying as well as a common form of workplace bullying.
