ABSTRACT

The psychopaths are found leading organizations, non-profit organizations and governments. The corporate psychopath is becoming more pronounced and recognizable in the workplace. To understand this phenomenon, it is important to recognize the evolution of our organizations as well as the evolution of the corporate psychopath leader. Executive leadership is the predominant field for non-criminal psychopaths. They demonstrate very similar personality behaviors to those of a narcissist, but also possess minimal emotions and absolutely no sense of remorse. This chapter demonstrates some characteristics and traits found in psychopath leaders. The perception that the corporate psychopath demonstrates during the interview process can often be perceived differently through the lens of a business leader. The psychopath leader is one who is viewed by their followers as being creative and innovative. When addressing a psychopath leader, the target may be faced with several different behaviors. The psychopath leader has spent years fine-tuning their skills of deception and lying.
