ABSTRACT

Trainers certainly need to enhance their knowledge and skill related to the new technology. As fewer people are expected to enter long-term training programmes, it becomes vital to look at shorter training inputs over a longer period. The concepts behind on-line training are not new, although applications have progressed rapidly in the last few years. On-line training is primarily concerned with information and instruction. The process is essentially one way although reaction and understanding can be tested. However, recent research has cast doubt on the computer's ability to evaluate creative responses which have not been programmed in. The on-line/technology contribution to training can be an important and economic means of preparing for action training inside or outside the training room. Classroom' training is almost a contradiction in terms, a throwback to memories of old-fashioned schooling'. Technological advancement has made technology-assisted training possible.
