ABSTRACT

The Colombian environmental authorities developed a guide 1 in 2007 for the control and prevention of wildlife trafficking in the country. According to the guide, the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development coordinates this work at the national level. This initiative is called Convenio Interinstitucional (Interinstitutional Convention), produced by the following institutions: Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, general state prosecutor, general attorney of the nation, Administrative Ministry of Security (DAS), National Direction of Tax and Customs (DIAN), Alexander von Humboldt Institute for the Study of Biological Resources and the National University of Colombia.
