ABSTRACT

In recent years, trans-boundary parks have become more significant and all parts of the world have parks that cross over international borders, and southern Africa is no exception. The following chapter focuses on Zimbabwe’s Gonarezhou National Park, which is being joined with protected areas in South Africa and Mozambique, forming the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park. The stakeholders in this venture and their collaboration efforts to successfully implement the union of the park to the neighbouring area will be focused on. This first and largest conservation area crosses international borders in Southern Africa and includes numerous stakeholders in each country, who need to cooperate to successfully manage the park. It is therefore of great importance to form a successful partnership, for the three countries involved in the park, which are Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and South Africa.
