ABSTRACT

In Rosaline's reflection on the usefulness of popular psychology and self-help texts, she suggested that she found their moral grammar about the world she lived in helpful: “Yeah. So that's a marked difference for me, and I think of myself I am in a different place now, probably with the help of some of the inspirational texts and some of the motivational books and that sort of thing”. Rosaline, as we saw in chapter 2, explained that self-help texts helped her to change into a preferred version of herself, one who adapts to the world around her and matures with it.
