ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book demonstrates that pastoral supervision and theological reflection are integrating factors and do in fact enable students to do theology themselves and that this model and method has the potential to be a catalyst for reform of the curriculum within UCTC. The TRS may in itself have fallen short of catalysing curriculum reform in the UCTC, but it has modelled a way of integrating theory and practice as envisioned in the UCA Ministerial Report. Integration from experience to the personal, the pastoral, the cultural, and the theological and faith issues is often hard work and requires insight and an ability to make connections; it is also risk taking. The UCA and other churches are beginning to reclaim and recognise the importance of pastoral supervision and theological reflection.
