ABSTRACT

San Lorenzo,1 which is distant from the mainland eightyleagues ; and I think that the king o f Portugal will soon be lord o f it, because they have already seized two places and put them to fire and flame. From what I have seen o f India and Ethiopia, it appears to me that the king o f Por tugal, if it please God, and he is as victorious as he has been hitherto, I think that he will be the richest king in the world. And truly he deserves every good, for in India, and especially in Cucin, every f8te day ten and even twelve Pagans and Moors are baptized in the Christian faith, which is daily extending by means of the said k in g ; and for this reason it may he believed that God has given him victory, and will ever prosper him in future.
