ABSTRACT
T h e twenty-two short sailing directions printed below, eighteen for the Essex coast and four for the Kentish coast, were drawn up by Bowrey at different times during the years 1694 to I7OI> when he was cruising in his yacht, the Duck. They belong therefore to periods both before and after his tour in the Netherlands.
