ABSTRACT

Operating as a work team is different. It involves a group of people, all of whom are 'on the same side', working together towards a common objective. The concept is intended to make best use of the available resources in an organization and ensure that we tap into every idea and skill. The idea of organizing workers at all levels into teams with a reasonable level of autonomy has gained great popularity, replacing the more traditional view that workers should be highly trained to perform a single task within a tightly designed work regime. Well-motivated people are enthusiastic. The ideal programme involves everybody and makes them highly enthusiastic for both the activity and the likely results. Enthusiasm is infectious: a few keen people can spread the message and make others just as supportive of the programme.
