ABSTRACT
Before dawn the next day we weighed the north anchor and hauled the shoreward one up and down. Don Antonio Pineda had already returned on board, having spent the seven previous days on a scientific excursion to the various frontier presidios, accompanied by Don Juan de Benavente, acting capitán of the frontier dragoons. We now only needed a breath of favourable wind to set sail.
