ABSTRACT

This chapter looks focuses on the contribution of the approach that does not focus on disputes, but on development and its contribution to peace in East Asia. It focuses on an identity of the state that has made the onset of conflicts less likely. Objective level of development refers to a condition where the incomes are high and poverty is low. Development, in turn, means that there is progress towards a higher level of development. The fundamental difference between objective development and developmentalism is the fact that the latter exists only in the minds of people while the former can be measured in studies as an objective outcome of policies. For the quantitative analysis, the chapter measures regimes and constituencies with a simple additive scale in accordance to the following criteria.
