ABSTRACT

An effective manpower plan includes both qualitative and quantitative considerations. It needs to consider the organization itself, the jobs, the headcount and the assignment of individuals to specific positions. One of the most crucial parts of any M&A process involves identifying who will be part of the new organization and who will not. Employees know that changes will affect jobs, responsibilities and reporting. Denying them the right to have a clear view of how and when that process will take place, on the basis that it might create unwanted turmoil or insecurity is a wrong approach. In order to ensure the process is fair, we will undertake an independent assessment of all employees, including all administrative, management and professional staff. The process will begin immediately and will adhere to the employment law requirements in each country concerned. We are developing a transitional employee assistance programme for those employees selected for redundancy.
