ABSTRACT

For most of us reading is something we cannot do without in our everyday lives, inside or outside work. In a work context, many people are expected to read large quantities of written material ranging from short memos and emails to long reports. Here we would also like to look at the contribution that reading books or articles can make to work based learning. Given that many people would say they receive far more emails and reports than they are able to deal with effectively in the time available, the prospects for undertaking additional reading for learning purposes might look bleak.
