ABSTRACT

This chapter provides teachers with the core knowledge and skills that underpin effective practice within a whole-school, multi-professional approach. It builds directly from this research, providing practical and useful information which addresses the issues identified by teachers in relation to understanding the key issues and principles for effective working that they need to consider. The chapter provides a range of school and health care professionals with advice, guidance and strategies to enable them to provide children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions with the highest quality of education has never been so important. It focuses on the needs of school-age children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. The chapter addresses the additional needs of pre-school children and/or adults. It uses the term "parents" to include parents, carers and guardians, including carers of looked after children who also have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
