ABSTRACT
In this chapter we delve into a number of ideas, each of which broadens out the way in which we may think about educational criticism and connoisseurship. The first is that educational criticism, as it has been conceptualized and developed in education, may be applied to studies of non-educational environments. Students in all fields, including, but not limited to, psychology, business, nursing, and social work will want to take notice. Second, we offer ideas about how one might adapt ideas found in educational criticism to allow for varying methodological tools. Third, the educational critic’s imagination may be sparked by understanding some of the developments in literary criticism, in particular. We offer a number of ideas for fodder that may advance one’s thinking about interpretive frameworks. Finally, critics may wish to explore the ways in which educational criticism may complement other research methods. We will take a look at some possibilities at the end of the chapter.
