Responsibility, geography, knowledge

WithTariq Jazeel

What does responsible postcolonial geographical knowledge production entail in the university today? It is to this question that this chapter attends, first, by discussing the deceptively difficult prior question of what responsibility is and what it evokes in the context of geographical knowledge production; second, by discussing some of the limits, barriers and ongoing forms of coloniality that geographers must be aware of and negotiate as we attempt to produce responsible postcolonial geographical knowledge; and third, by elaborating on just a few strategic tactics that disciplinary geographers might think and work through in pursuit of the necessary injunction towards responsibility.
