ABSTRACT

Ethics is described as “the study of the criteria of good and bad conduct.” 1 This notion may be extended to identify good conduct with “truth” and bad conduct with “non-truth.” However, many issues are not as easily categorized as being in accord with the complete truth (good conduct) or complete non-truth (bad conduct). The challenge most of the time is to balance personal, institutional, and group dynamics with genuine concern for professional needs and the interests of society. The assessment of conduct is to determine the common ground for maximizing shared values and to ascertain the means for resolving differences.
