ABSTRACT

Parents and teachers contribute in different ways to children’s education; therefore, communications between parents and teachers form an important part of a teacher’s work. Indeed, parental involvement in children’s education more generally appears to be related positively to children’s academic achievement.2 This chapter is about successfully communicating with parents at individual parent-teacher meetings, at group meetings of parents, and through school reports. But first I explain why beginning teachers often feel vulnerable when they meet with parents.
