ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the destructive power of the resistance and explains how steps can be taken to overcome many of the frequently experienced creativity blockers. Resistance to practising business creativity skills and to successfully managing innovation and entrepreneurial skills is common. A desirable approach to successfully implementing change is to involve employees who have both a professional and personal stake in helping managers understand resistance to change. The chapter also explores the power of mindsets and paradigms in the operations of business organisations. It discusses the role of thinking pattern sets and the role of psychological factor sets in shaping perceptions. The chapter also explains how group and organisational mindsets interact, and how the shaping perceptions can act as blockages to individual and organisational business creativity. The blockages include perceptual blockages, emotional blockages, process skill blockages, communication blockages, environmental blockages, and cultural blockages.
