ABSTRACT
‘It moves’ is a performative text that explores the relationships between walking, writing and public space through the work of the writer and artist Mary Paterson. Mary uses her own publishing history as source material to demonstrate the dependency between language and context. Interweaving other writerly modes including academic citation and a fragmented, reflective narrative, the text reveals the political status, effects and responsibilities of an artist’s practice and role in cultural economy.
