ABSTRACT

Jamaica as a developing nation has ambitions for its population that will eventually put it on par with the more advanced countries. One such ambition seeks to address the diversity of creative and physical needs within Jamaican schools. The current school system endeavors to integrate dance not only as a subject, but also as an integral part of extracurricular activities, sometimes manifesting itself as school clubs that students are at liberty to join. Jamaican education policies have sought to guarantee equitable access for all to artistic and educational programs for students regardless of race, color or creed.
