ABSTRACT
This is the story of Namira (N), a young dancer with Down Syndrome who came to my dance school in Jakarta, Indonesia. She is passionate and determined in everything that she does and is clever and assertive, with a high awareness of her image and looks. When she first came into the class, I was automatically drawn to her. I knew that there was something special about her and she has changed my own preconceptions of what Down Syndrome people are like. This narrative is an account of us growing and learning together over a four-year period.
