ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book argues that the—embracing of piracy practices by the Internet users by numbers and the restless innovativeness of the technological empire, forcing the music industry to turnaround its strategies. It discusses what such a balance could look like with regard to music, and assess the state of the music world today vis-a-vis such an ideal. The book defines "folding" in relation to other theoretical terms and concepts. It argues that folding was a more encompassing term than "negotiation," since it includes actions that are not overtly and intentionally meant as negotiation acts. Thus, the concept of folding is an overarching explanatory imaginary that combines well with and complements other key concepts within science and technology studies and actor-network theory.
