ABSTRACT
Carrying out a classroom observation is one way of developing a greater understanding of a pupil’s behavioural strengths and difficulties. It should be carried out in conjunction with background knowledge of the pupil. Observation can be used as a way of answering specific questions such as:
● how frequently a pupil behaves in a certain way; ● how a pupil is able/unable to cope with different types of classroom organisation/
activities; ● how the pupil responds to a particular teaching style; ● whether or not the classroom tasks are appropriate in terms of the pupil’s ability,
cultural background and so on.
