ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors discuss information about the group work programme at Pen Green, specifically regarding groups for zero–three and their families. They explore the importance of developing relationships with all the important adults in the child's life and working in a thoughtful and respectful way which enables successful and sustained engagement with parents. For this work to happen, the authors describe the range of services and groups available throughout the whole week both within the Centre and in the local community. They also consider the responsibilities and qualities of a group leader. The authors provide universal groups for all families to use, as well as more targeted provisions for those families that need a more specialist support. Targeted groups are a particular kind of closed group with a specified aim. The majority of these groups run for a limited length of time.
