ABSTRACT

This chapter builds the foundations of the program's structure. The vendor compliance program is a significant part of both supplier relationship management and supplier risk management. Supplier relationship management encompasses the total of all interactions between the customer enterprise and its suppliers, including business process and software systems. Supplier relationship management ensures compliance with child labor and product performance laws at state and federal levels, and includes ensuring no international business is conducted with individuals or enterprises on federal government restricted lists. The customer enterprise may want to consider that the vendor compliance documentation is now a guidebook of competitively sensitive information and should not be made so readily available to just anyone. The vendor compliance manual can serve a broad, general purpose in introducing the concept of vendor compliance to vendor community and provide some "how-to" guidance. The routing guide helps vendors select designated ground carriers to use based on ship-from location and ship-to destination and size of shipment.
